The Inauguration of the Enugu State Renevue Court Go back
The Enugu State Revenue Court was inaugurated on the 5th of July 2017. The court handles cases of tax evaders and was rejuvenated to enhance the enforcement of tax collections and to punish tax offenders and tax evaders whether individuals or organizations
The opening speech was given by the Chairman of the Enugu State Internal Revenue Service, Chief Emeka Odo.

According to the Chairman; "With the commissioning of the Revenue Court, it will no longer be business as usual. Tax evaders will surely be prosecuted in accordance with the law. A situation where some major institutions and individuals treat tax issues with levity will no longer be tolerated... Government is serving notice that going forward, such illegal activities will no longer be condoned. Institutions and individuals no matter how highly placed who deprive government of its legitimate tax revenues will be prosecuted in accordance with the laws of the land."

After his speech, there was the Inauguration speech by the Chief Judge of Enugu State, Justice Ngozi Emehelu. There was a court sitting afterwards to officially hand over the Revenue court to the State’s Judiciary.
